Pros and cons of Chronic Pain Tracker app for iPhone and iPad

Chronic Pain Tracker app good for

Ive suffered from undiagnosed Chronic pain for years - after using this app for one month, I was able to provide my doctors specific data that made a huge difference in their analysis of my situation - it is dead simple to use - and with the new export functions, completely killer. My Doctor was blown away by the data I was able to provide her.
I have been suffering from chronic pain for a long time and contantly arguing with my many doctors about the pain. As with most doctors they prescibe antidepressants, thinking its depresion that was the cause of the pain. Now with this app and my itouch I can record my pain and show my doctors. This app is helping with the communication of my pain with the doctors and they listening. Thank You
This app is so helpful. I was hit by a car and broke my neck, sternum, leg and other things and have been in recovery for the pass 2 years. I use this app for tracking my chronic pain from the injuries which not only helps my doctors believe, understand, & treat me but also validates the pain I live with for myself and make me not feel so crazy. With this app you can actually SEE your pain, how it changes and travels through your body. Keep track of what activities induce pain, what relieves it, attach keyword descriptors to it, track medications, and export detailed reports for yourself and doctors. This creates evidence that what you are experiencing is real & its AMAZING to be able to share that with the people who are trying to help you. I loved this app before but with the recent updates of body overlays of the skeletal & muscle system, it really improves the ability to pin point the pain & understand where its coming from. I dont right reviews. But I had to for this one. For people with chronic pain you must get this app. The price is worth the validation youll feel after collecting only a weeks worth of data. Imagine after collecting a years worth like me. Thank you to the creators. Its an answer to prayers!!!!
I love this program! They have been working on glitches since I started, but I can back date them if I missed a few days no problem? Love that you can print or email reports! Its very thing I need, plus you can customize almost all the areas! Great job! My accident was 5 1/2 years ago, and the Chronic Pain Tracker helps me with a lot! LB
Before downloading this version of pain tracker I tried six other pain trackers and diaries available for the iOS. I wont say which ones, since I dont know what review etiquette is about that here, but most of them were ones that are frequently found on sale. They each had their positives and negatives, but I wasnt happy with them. The most common problems I had were: 1. Some were simply a chore to use. I mean, tracking pain is boring and interrupts the flow of my day as it is, wrestling with annoying controls and design decisions makes it worse. Pain Tracker is simple to use and I can make a detailed entry in the shortest time possible, which is what I wanted. 2. Inadequate reports. I wasnt satisfied with their reports, period. Some were so limited as to not be useful, others were confusing. If Im seeing a specialist and give them a report print out, its not going to help at all if I have to take ten minutes to explain how to read it and what things mean. Pain Trackers reports are the reason I love it so much: I can choose exactly how much or how little I want included, what I want it focused on, and so many other options. As a real world example, my GPs response to the first pain tracker report I brought was: "this is a good program!" #3. Not flexible enough. Every chronic pain/illness is different. With too many of the other apps things were included that didnt apply to me and my condition, or alternatively there was no way to add something I wanted included. Pain Tracker is great for this, I was able to set it up to track only those things that apply to me, and include everything I needed. Honestly you could literally set it up to track if the weather effects how much you like aunt Marthas famous whipped chocolate pie, if you liked. Everything is not perfect, however, and theres something you should know upfront: the current version occasionally crashes. Not often, but enough to annoy you when it happens. It happens most often when youre leaving the screen where you draw pain locations on a paper doll. As a temporary fix I just do the doll part first, so I dont lose any other data if it does crash. Even with this problem though, this is head and shoulders above the pack in my opinion. So thats it... I really like this app. Why the long review? I thought it might help someone find the right tool that they need, and to encourage the developers to keep improving this app: its a good one, and it helps me.
This is an excellent app, very pratical to show doc. I find I often get the low memory warning and it is confusing. It would be great if it could save to icloud and be synced to many devices. I like using the iPad version because of the graph, BUT I wish it could be used in landscape mode AND that the sections had bigger print or zoomable. Also, you can add many more labels to the sections, but the graphs become illegible with words over-lapping.

Some bad moments

Good little app for tracking pain ratings, very limited for location ie. body graphic doesnt allow for both front and back pain, and has no neck, an area where many people experience pain either separately or radiating. I hope updates will improve these drawbacks.
Allows for no bast pain journaling. If you have had chronic pain since 1996, as I have had, there is no way to re-journal them from sheets of paper of my pain conditions from past. You MUST buy this app the first sign of pain.
This is better than a journal for tracking pain because it helps you analyze the factors effecting your pain. I took off a star because of that horrible skeleton picture that comes up every time I open the app. Please change that picture to something more pleasant. It is scary and depressing! Not good for my mental state. Makes me feel sicker. Thanks!
Really like this app and the reports that are generated. Love the ability to change settings for fields, reports, and daily trackers used. It has helped me see patterns in my pain levels. Cant wait to show this to my doc.
This is an awesome app. Very easy to use and adapt to your circumstance. It is so hard for me to explain all my to doctor during visits my pain history and this was easy to track. Thanks!
I suffer with fibromyalgia for many years. When I was at the doctors for the first time to reconfirm that I have it he wanted me to keep track of my pain. I tried many trackers but CPT is the best out on the market. The updates are great. It would be great also to include to add pictures as well as a food tracker or equivalent. Do not hesitate to pay for this tracker because you will not find one any better.
